Roles of hypoxia in tumor progression and novel strategies for cancer treatment

چکیده
The metabolic process of normal cells in general and cancer particular requires an important molecule—oxygen. In tumors, the oxygen level tends to decrease gradually from outer layers central core, leading a condition termed ``hypoxia.'' Changes modify signaling pathways activities cells. Basically, tumor development is divided into three stages: initiation, promotion, progression. Among them, effects hypoxia are most evident during this review, we summarize previous findings on mechanisms underlying hypoxia-induced alterations expression genes proteins associated with hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs), which play role malignancy many types cancer. We also present latest evidence HIF-targeted treatment that yields positive outcomes vitro vivo.

Inhibition of matrix-metalloproteinases (MMPs) by tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) has been shown in vivo to decrease metastasis and tumor-associated angiogenesis. Our laboratory is interested in understanding the role of these proteins at the pericellular microenvironment of tumor and endothelial cells. Secretion of MMPs by tumor cells enables the migration, invasion and metasta...
متن کاملNovel treatment strategies for cancer and their tumor-targeting approaches using antibodies against tumor-associated antigens.
Novel treatment strategies for cancer that are based on a more detailed understanding over the tumor biology are based on the latest new technology and are expected to improve the current treatment outcome for patients with cancer. However, many of these strategies still have one common and critical problem, being their limited specificity for tumor cells. In this context, antibodies against tu...
متن کاملIdentification of a Novel Tumor-Binding Peptide for Lung Cancer Through in-vitro Panning
Tumor-targeted therapies are playing growing roles in cancer research. The exploitation of these powerful therapeutic modalities largely depends on the discovery of tumor-targeting ligands. Phage display has proven a promising high throughput screening tool for the identification of novel specific peptides with high binding affinity to cancer cells. In the present study, we describe the use of ...
